Top wedding dress designer, 34, who made dress for Made in Chelsea star Sophie Habboo was run over by her ex’s truck in row over access to their children
A top designer who made a dress for Sophie Habboo when she celebrated her wedding with fellow Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing in Spain has been hit by her ex-boyfriend’s pick-up truck in a row over access to their children.
Emma Beaumont, 34, was struck by Scott Purslow’s luxury X250 vehicle after he drove away whilst she was collecting a pair of Wellington boots belonging to one of the youngsters from the back seat.
During the bust up outside Miss Beaumont’s home in Davenham, Cheshire, Purslow – a 35-year-old sales manager for a chemicals company – told her: ‘You need to grow up and let me see the kids.’
But when the mother-of-two replied, ‘If you care to see the children you should pay for them’ and went to retrieve the boots and a pair of child’s trainers, Purslow retorted: ‘You f***ing b****’ then drove off, colliding with her as she walked back to her front door.
Miss Beaumont, who runs a bridal boutique in Knutsford, was struck a glancing blow which caused her to lose her balance but she escaped uninjured in the impact.

She called in police to report her ex-partner and revealed she had been recovering from an unrelated operation. Her new boyfriend was at the house at the time.
At Warrington magistrates court, Purslow – who lives in Plumley near Knutsford – was fined £1,730 and was ordered to pay Miss Beaumont £150 compensation after he was convicted of assault at an earlier hearing.
A charge of careless driving was dropped. He denied wrongdoing and made his ex-partner testify in court.
Purslow was also further ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £692 plus trial costs of £640 and was issued with a two-year restraining order preventing him from contacting Miss Beaumont or from entering her street.
Yvonne Dobson, prosecuting, said: ‘The complainant was with her ex-partner, the defendant, for a period of time but they separated in January 2022. They have two children together.
‘On November 6, 2022, the complainant was at her home address with her current partner and the younger child. The eldest child was with the defendant that week and was due to return that day.

‘The defendant attended the complainant’s address with the eldest child and he asked to come in to see the youngest child. But the complainant declined the request saying they had an agreement that he would not come into the house.
‘He threw the other child’s clothes in her face whilst the youngster went into the house. The defendant went off in his car but the complainant realised he still had the child’s trainers and wellies, and that the child needed them.
‘She left the house and saw the defendant in his car and she waved and signalled for him to stop, which he did. She gestured for him to put the window down, which he refused so she opened the passenger side door.
‘She asked where the bag was and he gestured that they were in the back. She then closed the door and opened the rear passenger side door and as she was getting them out of the car, he said, ‘You need to grow up and let me see the kids.’
‘She replied, ‘If you care to see the children you should pay for them.’ but as she was removing the items, he said: ‘You f***ing b****’ or words to that effect. She got the bag, and turned towards the front door as the defendant was stationary in his car on her right hand side.
‘She was about 20 metres away. As she walked towards her door she was parallel with the defendant’s car. She was hit by the car on the right side of her body and he braked. The car made contact and it made her lose her balance. She believed it was deliberate and she believed he had done it deliberately and went into the house and rang the police.

‘She didn’t have any injuries from the incident but was recovering from an unrelated operation at the time.
‘The defendant was found guilty following a trial in which the magistrates stated the complainant’s evidence was ‘clear and credible’. The defendant admitted calling her a b****, admitting slamming on the brake and that he may have hit her but did not stop to check.
‘The bench found that he ‘drove in a manner that was causing fear and was reckless in relation to an assault’.’
Purslow had previous convictions for battery in 2018 and drink driving in a Ford Ranger in 2021.
His barrister Emily Land. ‘My friend is suggesting the car was used as a weapon but I would disagree with that. He made an incredibly stupid mistake.. It could have resulted in injury but luckily it did not. I have warned him that a fine will reflect the seriousness of the offence.’
According to her website Miss Beaumont whose mother also works in dress design, studied a fashion atelier degree at the University of Rochester in the UK. Her ‘Mikado’ design wedding dress was said to be one of the world’s most ‘well received’ dresses in 2018.
