Two of Britain’s most infamous killers are at war as they attempt to woo the same woman from behind bars, it has been claimed.
Sean Mercer is serving a 22-year jail sentence at HMP Frankland for gunning down 11-year-old Rhys Jones in 2007.
The killer now has a girlfriend, who is believed to become a pen friend of his earlier in the year.
But now Kiaran ‘Psycho’ Stapleton, who shot and killed 23-year-old student Anuj Bidve in 2011, is also believed to be sending her letters to impress her with his ‘wealth’ and promises of a glitzy lifestyle when he gets released.

It is claimed Stapleton caught the eye of Mercer’s woman while he was on a prison visit.
A source told The Sun: ‘Stapleton is a monster but he likes to think that he is good-looking and spends a great deal of time responding to letters and trying to strike up relationships with admirers. He tells them jail is easy and says he has no problem filling his time.

‘He also vies for their attention by boasting he is a millionaire and tells them he’s willing to buy them designer clothes and handbags in return for a relationship.
‘He will try it on with anyone. Most are repulsed by the fact he’s a murderer but some women think people can change.’
Stapleton, 28, and Mercer, 29, are both doing time at high-security HMP Frankland in County Durham, which houses Milly Dowler’s murderer Levi Bellfield and Lee Rigby killer Michael Adebolajo.
Mercer was 16 at the time he shot Everton fan Rhys Jones, 11, as he walked home from football practice in Croxteth, Liverpool.
He had been aiming for a rival gang member, but missed, killing Rhys.
He has previously penned letters from prison to an unnamed woman, bragging that he was destined to be the next Wayne Rooney and that he used to play for Liverpool FC’s academy.

Stapleton was jailed in July 2012 for the unprovoked shooting of 23-year-old Anuj Bidve in Salford, Manchester, on Boxing Day 2011. He had come to Britain from India to study micro-electronics.
In letters to a friend he has boasted of having ‘the best cell’ on his wing and spent his time watching soaps.
He has also belittled his lengthy jail sentence, saying: ‘I can do 30 years standing on my head’, but had also begged a judge to reduce his time in an appeal.
Police have never established a motive for the cold-blooded attack by Stapleton, then 19.
