Moment cruel female thief abuses OAP, 88, after tricking him to get into house to borrow sugar – but she AVOIDS jail

THIS is the moment a female thief callously abuses an 88-year-old pensioner after tricking him to let her into the house pretending she needed to borrow some sugar.

Carol Lewis, 50, conned her way into the OAP's flat at 5am – before demanding from the dementia sufferer "where's your wallet?"

But the elderly man's family have been left horrified after the cruel burglar escaped jail.

The family of the great-granddad-of-15 had previously set up a hidden camera on the mantelpiece in the living room after "hundreds of pounds" had gone missing.

And they were horrified when the secret camera captured Lewis entering the pensioner's flat in Ladywood, Birmingham at 5am on October 26 last year.

The footage shows Lewis yelling at her victim and making small talk about the weather, before demanding, "Where's your wallet then?"

The victim, who was wearing just a t-shirt and boxers tells her, "I don't know where it is, there's nothing in it."

He desperately tries to find his wallet as Lewis searches the pockets of his jacket.

Lewis of Ladywood was arrested by West Midlands Police when she attempted the same burglary at the pensioner's home at 6am just days later.

She admitted two counts of burglary and another of fraud relating to another vulnerable man when she appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on May 4.

She was handed an 18-month prison term, suspended for two years.

But the victim's granddaughter Jade Wardle, 28, blasted the sentence, calling it "unbelievably lenient".

She added the family were horrified to see how the pensioner – who is not being named at this time – was "intimidated" in his own home.

She said: "It made me feel sick to my stomach. The worst part of the video was when she was shouting at him. Her tone of voice. It wasn't even about the money.

"She was physically intimating him. It upsets us no end. She's now back out there and this could happen again. It's really sad."

The victim who suffers from high blood pressure was rushed to hospital on the same day Lewis walked free from court.

Lewis also admitted targeting another man in his 50s between June and September last year.

She was also ordered to take part in a 15-day rehabilitation activity requirement order.
