The One Show fans gutted as show is taken off air in BBC schedule-shake-up

Normally airing weekdays at 7pm, with Alex Jones and ex Boyzone Ronan Keating hosting on Fridays, the show has had to be cancelled to slot more coverage in for the 8pm match between Italy and Turkey.

Gary Lineker will be hosting the hour long segment before kick off at 7pm and it’s expected that the Euro coverage will continue to take control of the airwaves for weeks throughout the run.

The Euro 2020 was to be hosted last year but due to the coronavirus pandemic it had top be postponed.

Taking place in 11 cities while covid rules are still in place, there wont be as large a crowd as usual but TV coverage will keep fans in the know.

The match is expected to last until 10:10, with the standard BBC News at 10 resuming normal schedule just after.

The disruption plans so far have pushed Eastenders to move their time slot too to make way for Euros.

The news of the One Show cancellation was handed over last night as Thursday’s episode ended with Ronan making the statement that they will not be back on air until Monday 14 th June .

Ronan said: "We're not here tomorrow because of the Euros but we'll be back on Monday talking to Sir Ian McKellan and singer HRVY.

"See you then."

As the show's official social media account confirmed they wouldn't be airing tonight, fans rushed to share their disappointment, with one posting: "Noooo."

Eastenders is making larger changes to their programming schedule as they mix things up for the Euros by dropping all episodes on BBCiplayer at the start of the week.

Executive producer of the show Jon Sen said: “Giving EastEnders viewers the ability to decide when they drop in on all things Albert Square is something we’re excited about.

“With the inevitable scheduling changes due to the Euros, something we’ll be celebrating in Walford on screen, box-setting all four episodes will ensure everyone gets their dose of drama and football fans won’t miss out.

“From indulging them all in one night, staggering across a few days or continuing to watch the episodes play out on BBC One, we hope the endless streaming options on BBC iPlayer keeps viewers content over the next few weeks.”

As Eastenders shifts schedules on broadcast television, people can remain undisrupted by catching up on iplayer whenever it suits them.

All four of the weeks episodes will be added to iplayer at 6am on Monday at the start of each of the three weeks of the euros.
