The Masked Dancer UK will be premiering on ITV this weekend, May 29 and it follows the success of the quirky competition series, The Masked Singer. The series will air across one week and it will see famous faces disguise themselves, before taking to the stage to show off their best moves. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about who will be judging the participants.

Who are The Masked Dancer judges?

Oti Mabuse

Oti is known for being one of the most successful professional dancers that Strictly Come Dancing has ever seen.

She raised the glitterball trophy twice, in consecutive years. Her most recent win was alongside comedian Bill Bailey.

The professional dancer is the only newcomer on the judging panel, but that is not stopping her from going all-in with the guessing.

She said: “The Masked Dancer is just one of those things that I will always hold close to my heart, simply because of the people that I do it with.

“The team is amazing and to be asked to be part of it was a privilege. It’s obviously really nerve-racking, but you have to hide your nerves and just show your smile and personality.

“I shouldn’t have been nervous because everyone makes it so easy. You know when people say never meet your heroes and you hope they are wrong. This phrase was totally wrong because they are all so great. They are such a delight and so welcoming.”

Jonathan Ross

Comedian Jonathan Ross will be reprising his role as judge from The Masked Singer, and he is known for his off-the-wall guesses.

He provided plenty of laughs in the singing competition and is bound to do the same when the colourful characters show off their moves.

He said he was grateful to have a professional dancer like Oti on the panel, adding: “She’s really helpful for us identifying who she thinks has had training and what kind of training – whether it’s kind of classical dance training or modern street dance training.

“She can spot that going on BUT she also says a lot of the time that she can see the better dancers or more experienced dancers have been disguising their ability early on in the show to catch us out and then blow us away.”

Davina McCall

TV presenter Davina McCall is another judge hailing from The Masked Singer, and she is excited for a new challenge.

She is known for taking the guessing game very seriously and pays attention to the cryptic clues.

Speaking about the clues, she said: “It’s important to say that the clues are everywhere. They’re in the backdrop, they’re on the costumes, there’s one person who has got apples everywhere… or they might be cherries and we can’t figure out at all what the relevance is.

“It must be a big clue though. We love all these added layers of clues. Me and Mo – we’ve got no idea what’s going on at all! Oti has started strong. And Jonathan has got us all second guessing ourselves.”

Mo Gilligan

Mo made his debut on the judging panel in the latest season of The Masked Singer and he quickly proved himself to be a brilliant guesser.

He impressed the rest of the judges with his tactics, but he feels The Masked Dancer will be an even harder challenge.

He said: “I think it’s actually harder because before, on Singer, you had a little bit to work off from the clues and then you had the voice but with this game you have LOADS of clues.

“And you don’t know what is a curveball and what is an actual clue. This is all new to us and myself and the other detectives are still learning.

“Even when the characters speak we don’t know if that’s them or if they’re putting on a voice. I think it’s become harder.”

The competition will also see a number of guest judges joining the panel, one of them being presenter Holly Willoughby.

The characters and costumes for the new series have also been revealed, and they include:

Beetroot

Carwash

Beagle

Llama

Scarecrow

Rubber Chicken

Flamingo

Frog

Knickerbocker Glory

Viper

Squirrel

Zip

The competition will be hosted by Joel Dommett, who made a great impression leading The Masked Singer series.

Fans have already expressed their excitement, with one saying on Twitter: “Yessssssssssssss!!!! I am so excited for this – bring it on!!!!!! #MaskedDancerUK” [Sic]
