Tales From The Loop season 2 release date: Will there be another series?

Tales from the Loop has left fans in awe with its sci-fi fantasy themes, and the series was inspired by the work of Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag. The Amazon Prime series is set in a small town with a landmark facility known as The Loop – which has an interest in making the impossible, possible. The debut series aired on April 3 and fans have already made their way through all the episodes.

Will there be another series of Tales from the Loop?

The science-fiction drama first made its debut on Amazon Prime on April 3 and all eight episodes of the first season were dropped at the same time.

In July 2018 it was announced the first season had been given the go-ahead but there had been no mention of a second series at the time.

The series has been well-received by audiences, particularly due to its stunning visuals, which is not surprising seeing as it was based on Stålenhag’s artwork.

Although nothing official has been said about a second series, there have been some subtle hints which suggest good news.

  • Tales from the Loop Review: Lovecraftian sci-fi gives powerful story

In an interview with Vanity Fair, creator Nathaniel Halpern said: “The Loop itself is essentially a storytelling generating device.

“It’s somewhat endless what you can do with it, so I would love to have a second season. But it’s a bit early.”

As the series does not follow any form of literature, there is no limit on what can be achieved with it in terms of a storyline.

Amazon Prime will essentially review the viewer ratings for the first season and if it is hailed a success, there is every hope for a second season.

Who will be in the cast of Tales from the Loop season 2?

The main cast from the first series is likely to return along with some potential new faces, with this being an anthology series.

Rebecca Hall plays Loretta, the daughter-in-law of The Loop founder, Russ, who is played by Jonathan Pryce.

Their relationship is bittersweet as they both admire each other for their intelligence, but Loretta feels uneasy about what her father-in-law is trying to achieve.

Fans have also taken a shining to young Cole (Duncan Joiner) who is the youngest son of Loretta and he is inspired by his grandfather’s work.

What will happen in Tales from the Loop season 2?

The series is set in Ohio and follows a number of residents across different dimensions, living through mysterious happenings which are a result of experiments at The Loop.

Each episode brings to life one piece of Stålenhag’s artwork, and a new series is likely to pay the same tribute to his masterpieces.

There are multiple storylines focussing on different characters throughout the series, but the one thing they all have in common is their connection to The Loop.

A new series could potentially take things a little left field and focus on life before The Loop through a number of flashbacks.

Fans would be keen to find out more about the inspiration behind the extraordinary facility and how it was created.

  • Vikings: Who was Ragnar Lothbrok? Was Ragnar Lothbrok a real King?

As a second season has not yet been announced officially there is no trailer to watch at the moment, but fans should watch this space.

If a second series was to air it will most likely come about in the autumn of 2021, so there will be quite a long wait.

Fans have praised the artist for inspiring such an aesthetically pleasing series, and they have thanked him on Twitter.

One fan said: “@simonstalenhag I just finished #TalesFromTheLoop and it blew me away. Such beautiful stories. It was amazing seeing who directed the episodes as well. Great score as well.”

The artist has shared a number of photos from the set on his Twitter feed so fans can take a look behind the scenes.
