Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) has been struggling to come to terms with the loss of son Dennis Rickman (Bleu Landau) in EastEnders and, during tonight’s episode, she decided to take some time away from Albert Square, as she packed her backs and prepared to head to Australia and visit best pal Michelle Fowler (Susan Tully) — much to Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) dismay.
Sharon was left devastated when her beloved son was killed during the boat tragedy back in February, and — in spite of the funeral having come and gone — she’s naturally finding it difficult to move on in a world without him.
Phil has given her something to focus on in recent weeks, as the two characters have toyed with the possibility of rekindling their romance, and they even thought about taking some time away from Walford together.
However, during tonight’s episode Sharon didn’t seem all that keen, as she wasn’t sure what one would file said trip under. It’s not a romantic getaway, nor is it a holiday in the traditional sense of the word.
As Phil left her to think it over, she seemingly made a huge decision, as she later revealed that she’s heading off to see Michelle in Australia.
Phil offered to go with her, but she ultimately declined his offer.
The Mitchell hard-man revealed that — if she wanted — he would purchase The Queen Vic for her, but Sharon seemed unable to process such information, and therefore decided that she needed to leave.
Although she remained adamant that she’d be returning, Phil was somewhat uncertain about whether or not she’d ever set foot in Walford.
Will we see Sharon again?
