Hollyoaks reveals prison trauma for Luke

Luke Morgan (Gary Lucy) gets quite the shock in Hollyoaks next week, when he discovers that Sue (Marian McLoughlin) had been writing to someone in prison.

The stalwart of the Channel 4 soap is still grieving the loss of his mum, who passed away several weeks ago, after a battle with a terminal illness.

In the aftermath of her death, he has been determined to stay strong, something that left Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring) incredibly concerned.

But things took an interesting turn when his estranged sister Zara (Kelly Condron) rocked up in the village, demanding to know why he failed to notify her about their mum’s funeral arrangements.

In spite of the initial animosity, however, the siblings reminisce about days gone by, and end up bonding in the process.

And this trip down memory lane gives Luke the push he needed to propose to Cindy!

Operation Marry Cindy is full-steam-ahead next week, as Luke hopes to tie the knot as soon as possible.

Zara, meanwhile, discovers the truth about her brother’s dementia diagnosis, and she’s heartbroken.

But Cindy’s attention is elsewhere, as she finds a letter in Sue’s belongings, which reveals that she’s been writing to a man in prison.

And when she and Zara discover the identity of this man, they’re left in shock. Cindy resolves to burn the letters, hoping to remove any trace of them, but Zara’s not sure that’s the best call.

She eventually sees Cindy’s point though, given the identity of the man Sue was writing to, as she knows how much this discovery would hurt Luke.

However, they miss some visiting orders amid Sue’s belongings, and are forced to what they can to pretend Luke is confused when he stumbles upon them.

In spite of the women’s efforts, Luke is on a mission, as he sets out on a quest to find the person that Sue was visiting.

The question is: just who is this man?

One to watch: Friday August 6 at 7pm on E4.
