Hollyoaks viewers are convinced that Dean Vickers (Paul Sloss) is responsible for the death of PC George Kiss.
John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) was arrested for his boyfriend's murder in recent scenes.
Dean returned to the village during Monday's first-look episode on E4 to lay a wreath at a memorial spot for his former boyfriend.
He was disturbed by Goldie McQueen (Chelsea Healey) while remembering his ex-boyfriend and the scared man ran away into the distance..
However, an emotional Dean later chatted to lawyer James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) about John Paul's case.
Fans of the Channel 4 soap rushed to their keyboards to predict that Dean is George's mystery killer.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Well that was very suspicious!"
A second persons posted: "Dean's back but why?"
While a third social media user said:
Another added: "PC Kiss' killer has to be Dean."
Dean first showed up in Hollyoaks village in September last year.
He revealed that George has put him through a lot of pain, but claimed he wanted him back.
The police officer took delighted in Dean's suffering, before turning him down.
Dean later returned to the village and made it clear that he was desperate to win back George.
Courtney Campbell (Amy Conachan) assured John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) that he’s had no reason to be worried about George.
Goldie McQueen (Chelsee Healey), however, fed his paranoia, while George enjoyed making his beau feeling insecure.
Dean later explained how George reduced him to the obsessive person that he’s now become, and the parallels between he and John Paul were evident.
The young man left the village and returned once again, and desperately tried to make John Paul see that George was his "soulmate".
George spied an opportunity to make John Paul jealous, however, and therefore had sex with Dean, making John Paul listen to him sleeping with another man.
