Benson and Stabler nearly kiss on Law and Order SVU
Law and Order: Special Victims Unit continues to go from strength to strength with a revolving door of cast as new characters come on board to tackle fresh cases while veterans make an exit from the NBC show.
Due to the Hollywood strikes, work has ground to a halt on the series with light at the end of the tunnel following a breakthrough in the WGA industrial action.
Some Law and Order: SVU fans are wondering about the character of Michael Cutter (played by Linus Roache) and why he left the series.
Where is Law and Order star Linus Roache now?
British star Linus Roache was part of the Dick Wolf franchise between 2008 and 2010 as Executive ADA Michael Cutter.
The character left the original series to appear in the spin-off SVU for four episodes between 2011 and 2012.

Cutter’s last episode was season 13, episode 13 called Father’s Shadow after which he seemed to leave the Law and Order universe.
The character of Cutter became the Bureau Chief ADA of the Sex Crimes Bureau, according to the Law and Order fandom.
Cutter was replaced as Bureau Chief by 2019 with Vanessa Hadid (Zuleikha Robinson) taking on the role.

So, it seems Cutter was replaced off-screen at some point with his job being taken over by someone else.
Meanwhile, actor Roache – the son of legendary Coronation Street Ken Barlow actor Bill Roache – went on to star in a plethora of films and TV shows including Summer of Rockets, Homeland, My Policeman, Netflix’s The Recruit and Vikings as King Ecbert.
He is next slated to be appearing in The Dresden Sun and the TV series Fellow Travelers.
Law and Order season 25 is now in the works with the show delayed until 2024 due to the writers’ strike.
However, when the show does finally return, fans can expect plenty of the same with more hard-hitting cases ripped from the headlines.
Fans have been faced with reruns due to the industrial action, which brought Law and Order, along with many others shows, to a hiatus until an agreement was reached.
