Good Morning Britain ’s weatherman Alex Beresford made an exciting career move today, presenting the show for the first time.
The 39-year-old weather expert joined Kate Garraway on the news desk, replacing Ben Shephard after his unexpected exit last week.
Since her GMB return last month, Kate has been joined by pal Ben on Monday and Tuesday mornings, presenting the first two instalments of the week.
However, last week, Ben announced he would be taking a break from the show to focus on his other TV series, Tipping Point.
In the hot seat today, Kate congratulated Alex on his presenting debut, saying: “Everyone’s loving you here at the desk!”
Reading out a few kind comments from viewers, Kate added: “See it's a big thing sitting at this desk.”
Thrilled by the fan reaction, Alex said: “Aw, keep them coming in!”
He added: “I’ve got big shoes to fill.”
Meanwhile, over on Twitter, viewers made it clear they were delighted by ITV’s decision to enlist Alex as a host, as they praised his performance.
One said: “@GMB lovely to wake up and see @alexberesfordTV on the tv.”
“Lovely to see @alexberesfordTV sitting at the desk with the beautiful @kategarraway. Perfect way to start the day,” added a second.
And a third chimed: “@alexberesfordTV what a lovely surprise to see you presenting on @GMB! I really hope that you can do this more as you are undoubtedly one of the best respectful guest people they use! I have so close to switching recently so big round of applause.”
Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV.
