Emmerdale's Manpreet Sharma star Rebecca Sarker has teased new explosive scenes as Meena Jutla's (Paige Sandhu) murder trial looms on the ITV soap.
In upcoming scenes, Meena, who has pleaded not guilty for the murders of Ben Tucker, Leanna Cavanagh and Andrea Tate, will finally face trial while her sister Manpreet is set to testify against her after making a huge U-turn.
However, there are more shocks and surprises set to take place as Manpreet star Rebecca has revealed that Meena will make one final "horrifying confession" that has the potential to "plague" her character for life.
Speaking to press, Rebecca said: "Meena has one more horrible, horrifying confession to make.
"One that of all of the terrible crimes, this might have the potential to plague Manpreet for the rest of her life. I will say it is a crime that is very, very, very close to home."
Talking about whether it would take time for Manpreet to heal following the bombshell, Rebecca added: "Absolutely, it's a long road. It will be a long road to recovery, if at all."
It comes after Emmerdale writer Sharon Marshall appeared on This Morning to tease what is to come in upcoming episodes, as Meena tries to convince the jury she is innocent of murder.
In doing so, the unhinged former nurse and her defence will claim that she had an affair with Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson), which sees Liam seeing red and lashing out in front of everyone.
However, the ITV show’s soap expert Sharon, 50, told hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary that Liam’s outburst could come back to haunt him, and leave Meena looking like she’s been set up.
Sharon explained: “She’s back. She’s going to lie, she’s going to stand there looking like butter wouldn’t melt and claim she had an affair with Liam.”
She continued: “He’s so enraged he flips out – is that going to lose him the jury?”
Sharon then went on to say that soap fans can expect to be very entertained by the upcoming scenes, as Meena shows just how far she is capable of going.
Although it remains to be seen which way the jury will vote, and what Meena’s ultimate fate will be.
Sharon said: “It’s going to be good. One last final act. It’s just been a warm-up so far…”
