EastEnders fans praise drunk Kathy for providing comic relief to serious episode

There was another dramatic night in Albert Square on Tuesday, as the residents of Walford struggled to come to terms with the arrest of Keanu Taylor at Albie’s christening.

As regular viewers will know, Keanu has been working alongside Ravi, moving his drugs for him in a bid to earn some extra cash.

But he was caught in the act during Monday night’s edition of EastEnders, with Tuesday picking up where things left off.

As Keanu was grilled by police after his arrest, DS Barnes attempted to broker a deal with the young dad to offer him immunity in exchange for ratting out his boss, the mastermind behind the entire scheme.

Later in the episode, Keanu was finally set free and returned to the pub to continue celebrating his son’s christening, however Ravi later caught up with him and demanded to know whether or not he had been grassed up.

Keanu was adamant that he hadn’t blabbed, but Ravi wasn’t convinced and soon caught up with him to deliver a dose of brutal revenge in warning.

While the scenes were undoubtedly tough to watch and took on a serious storyline, there was still plenty to smile about as Kathy Beale stole the show, while getting utterly sloshed at the Queen Vic.

As fans were treated to gripping scenes in which Keanu talked his way out of jail, Kathy was spotted knocking back glass after glass of champagne and wine in scenes that provided a much needed dose of comic relief.

Fans were especially impressed by actress Gillian Taylforth for being able to play a drunk so convincingly on our screens!

“We deserve a whole episode of just hammered Kathy i think,” said one viewer.

Another agreed, adding: “Drunk Kathy is giving us life,” while a third penned: “Gillian Taylforth plays a perfect drunk version of Kathy.”

A fourth fan then also weighed in, writing: “Drunk Kathy absolutely made my night. Wonderful scenes tonight – all the reminiscing about Lou and Martin’s christening were excellent.”

Meanwhile a fifth viewer commented: “Despite all the doom and gloom at #EastEnders, there is still some humour, fun, laughter, hope and love in the Albert Square ! I bloody love @bbceastenders!!!"
