Apparently, they are best done in air fryer. Yes, you read that right!
The trusty kitchen appliance is used by the Michelin-trained chef, who catapulted to fame on TikTok, to perfect the crispy wing.
In her new book, Poppy Cooks: The Actually Delicious Air Fryer Cookbook, the chef shared her tips on how to make "flavoursome" and "succulent" chicken wings so you can have a go too!
Before you start, heat your air fryer to 190C/375F. The recipe is also dependent on how many wings you have to work with.
Ingredients
- 100–200g/¾ – 1⅔ cups plain/all purpose flour (depending on how many wings)
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 6–10 chicken wings per person, separated into drums and flats
- vegetable oil, for spraying
Method
"Mix together the flour and all the spices and the salt in a mixing bowl, to get everything incorporated," Poppy instructs.
"Tip the wing pieces into the flour mixture and give them a good toss."

Once you've given the meat a good toss, then you need to spray the air-fryer basket with a little bit of oil to ensure that you get a nice crisp.
The chef continues: "Dust of any excess flour from your wings and place them in the air-fryer basket."
Poppy urged that for "optimum deliciousness" then you should air-fry the chicken wings in batches of 10 – which is of course dependent on the size of the appliance.
"Cook for 15 minutes, until golden and cooked through," she added. Either enjoy them plain and crispy or try one of the saucy variations.
"Just toss your cooked wings in the sauce of your choice."
Poppy revealed that her three favourite ways to eat chicken wings is either with buffalo hot sauce, sticky sweet soy sauce and lemon with black pepper.
She's included her recipes for these in Poppy Cooks: The Actually Delicious Air Fryer Cookbook by Poppy O’Toole (Bloomsbury, £20 Hardback).
