Who is Shona McGartys new boyfriend? Inside EastEnders stars romance with David Bracken

Shona McGarty has publicly announced her new romance with boyfriend David Bracken, branding him her "whole world" in a sweet post.

The EastEnders actress, 31, who is famed for portraying Whitney Dean in the BBC One soap for over 15 years, shared the first photo of her new beau on Instagram on Monday evening as she and David headed out to Shona's sister's wedding together.

Soap star Shona and David looked smitten as they posed together in the loved-up snap, which showed Shona sporting a glam make-up look complete with statement lipstick and her hair styled in soft waves.

"Wedding time My whole world," the actress penned before tagging her boyfriend's Instagram account. She later shared a second selfie of the pair together along with gushing caption.

Shona wrote: "And then my soul saw you, and went… 'Oh there you are!' 'I've been looking for you'… Totally obsessed… in a really healthy way…," alongside a winking emoji.

It's unclear how long Shona and David have been dating, but the pair both shared photos on Instagram on 2 September of their hands clasped together as they made a "promise" to one another.

David is a musician who is one-half of guitar duo Blessed alongside singer Tony Cunningham. The band have over 18k followers on Instagram and play gigs all over their home country. Blessed describe themselves as "an electrifying Irish band that will blow you away".

Shona's new romance comes after she was linked to her EastEnders co-star Max Bowen, 27, who plays Ben Mitchell, last year. The pair called time on their relationship in October 2022 with a source claiming things got "complicated" between them.

“There has been a lot going on in Max’s life and things were just getting too complicated with Shona being involved," they said. “Max will always have a lot of love and respect for Shona but it’s just not the right time."

The insider added: “Max and Shona have never spoken on it publicly but as their close circle would know, they were never in an official relationship and remain close friends who decided not to pursue anything romantic a number of months ago.”

However, Max and Shona appear to still be on good terms, with Shona super excited to bump into Max's mum at the Soap Awards earlier this year.
