Man Utd face missing out on Sofyan Amrabat transfer as European giants consider launching late bid for Fiorentina star | The Sun

MANCHESTER UNITED could miss out out on Sofyan Amrabat thanks to interest from a European rival, reports suggest.

Amrabat has been linked with the Red Devils since the Qatar World Cup.

However, Financial Fair Play issues have stalled the club's pursuit.

And they could miss the punch entirely with Napoli now considering a bid for the midfielder, according to Corriere della Sera via Football Italia.

Napoli missed out on signing Gabri Veiga to Saudi Arabia – a move branded "embarrassing" by Real Madrid star Toni Kroos.

But with interest high in Elfij Elmas, Napoli are looking at the market to bolster their core in case he leaves.

As a result, Fiorentina star Amrabat is being considered for a transfer, with the star pushing to leave the Artemio Franchi Stadium.

Napoli boss Rudi Garcia is said to have green lit an approach, with an offer expected to arrive in the coming days.

The latest on the Amrabat-United saga saw the 27-year-old's price reportedly slashed to £21million.

An injury to Luke Shaw has seen United switch their end-of-summer transfer strategy to finding a new left-back rather than adding a midfielder.

Reports suggest they are unlikely to make a move for Amrabat unless they can offload one of their own midfielders.

Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay have been linked with an exit throughout the summer.

The Red Devils are in action against Nottingham Forest at 3pm today.

Erik ten Hag will be hoping to see United play better than in their first two fixtures against Wolves and Tottenham.
