A mum has shared her twist on the popular towel dishwasher hack that took the internet by storm, and revealed how she guarantees perfectly dry plastic containers (pictured)
Posting on her Home with Leanne account, Leanne said once the cycle is done and her containers are still inside, she puts a clean tea towel on the door before closing it.
When she opens the door just 30 minutes later, the containers are completely dry.
‘Usually, if you use rinse aid or have a newer dishwasher the glasses and plastic containers dry during the cycle,’ she wrote.
‘However, if you find that your plastic containers and glasses don’t dry, placing a tea towel in the dishwasher door will absorb the moisture and dry the containers and glasses.’
How to try the towel trick at home
1. Wash the glasses and plastic containers in the dishwasher as per normal.
2. Open the dishwasher door once the cycle is complete and place a tea towel over the door so it is ajar. Close as much as possible.
3. Leave for 30 minutes.
4. Return to the containers and they should be perfectly dry and ready to put away.

While many were impressed with the idea, not everyone was on board – and some said all you need to do is open the door to let the steam out.
‘Mine dries fine with the blue rinse stuff and if I have any cups that hold water upside down I just take it off and leave the door for half hour,’ one woman said.
Another woman explained that her dishes are always dry when the load finishes so she just puts them away and leaves the dishwasher open.
