A wheely great dad! Doting father builds his car-mad son, 4, a miniature replica of his own Land Rover for £500 using an old mobility scooter – and it goes up to 8mph

A doting father has made his his car-mad son’s dreams come true by building him a miniature version of his own Land Rover. 

Richard Yeomans, 48, from Trowbridge, Wiltshire, recreated a tiny version of his marine blue Land Rover series 3 for his four-year-old son Sydney.

The miniature Land Rover has a top speed of eight miles per hour, which Richard insisted is ‘plenty’ for the four-year-old.

The IT worker spent two months putting the miniature car (left) together and recreated his Land Rover (right) down to the smallest detail, making them almost identical 

He explained: ‘It’s something I really enjoyed doing. Sydney was thrilled when he saw it.

‘He couldn’t resist having a peek a few times as it was being built, but he’s delighted with the finished product.

‘It has a top speed of eight miles per hour and that’s plenty for him.’

Richard said that car-obsessed Sydney (both pictured left and right) was ‘thrilled’ when he saw his miniature Land Rover, admitting he’d taken a sneak peeks while it was being built

The savvy father made sure to include every tiny detail of his own car in Sydney’s roofless version, even down to the tire that sits on front of the bonnet

Richard began the project for his car-obsessed son after revamping his own Land Rover during the first lockdown. 

He explained that Sydney had previously had a ‘ready-made’ car but outgrew it very quickly, prompting him to begin his creative challenge. 

Richard said: ‘We brought him a ready made ride-on a while ago but he outgrew it really quickly.

‘I spent the first lockdown doing up my car, so thought I would spend this one making one for Sydney.’
