For Pre-Fall 2024, Dsquared2 crafted a lively range of outdoorsy menswear, inspired by the 2023 American horror-comedy, Cocaine Bear. Designers (and twins) Dean and Dan Caten were inspired to create a Canadian wilderness-ready collection after seeing the film, which follows an unfortunate bear who happens to ingest a large amount of the titular substance and subsequently goes berserk.
With that mood board, the collection is filled with campy outerwear, including a vintage-looking shearling, a zig-zag wool jacket and patch-pocketed parkas. There’s also jackets that become one with flannel shirts and check tops that convert into padded coats.
Bottoms feature felted wool shorts, cargo pants and the brand’s classic 642 straight ’90s jeans. Down the line, denim is coated with a velvet-like flock in an amber hue, and signature lumberjack checks layer over dark jeans for a satisfying textural contrast.
The collection’s sharp-clawed muse leaves his mark on the clothing, with a number of embroidered scratches appearing across outerwear, knitwear, and accessories. Jacquard knits feature bear graphics on the chest, and patches of the animal land on V-neck cardigans. Things take a dark turn on T-shirts, which feature smattered red sequins that intend to resemble a pool of blood.
