This Morning’s Holly Willoughby deemed ‘brave’ after social media decision

Holly Willoughby, 42, has kept her social media the same following her update yesterday insisting she was unaware of her former co-host’s affair.

The This Morning presenter was revealed to have not turned off comments on Instagram despite the backlash against her and Phillip Schofield, 61.

Holly remained silent on the matter despite growing rumours about the pair’s declining friendship over the past few weeks.

She eventually posted an update yesterday evening on her Instagram story.

She shared with her 8.3 million followers: “It has taken some time to process yesterday’s news.

“When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not,” she added.

“It’s been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie.”

Whilst the statement has now disappeared per the social media platform’s 24-hour rules, many fans caught what she had to say.

Instead fans wrote on her other posts how “brave” she was during the drama and following her decision to allow comments.

They commented: “Holly, I’m not a fan of you right now, but I do have to say that I think you’re actually very brave to leave the comments on under your posts.

“She’s brave for not turning these comments off.”

One fan agreed that the star was unaware of the circumstances replying: “We always believe our friends. It’s not your fault.”

Another added: “Talk about cancel culture. What is wrong with some of you, she’s a human being for goodness sake, stop treating her like there’s no one at the other end of this or any other social media account.”

However, some fans have called out her slow response and requested that she leave the show and network.

Holly is not the only presenter that fans focused on amid the resignation of Phil and his confession that he had an affair.

Former This Morning host and current GB News anchor Eamonn Holmes claimed that he and his wife Ruth Langsford had also been lied to by Phillip.

He shared on Twitter: “Ruth and I deceived and lied to. (sic)

The Irish presenter revealed that he would “tell the story” but that he “took [them] for fools”.

Eamonn finished the post: “The man told us complete lies and we unfortunately believed him.”

His 1.1 million followers asked the star not to wait to reveal more details of what he knew: “Don’t wait ‘for one day’ Eamon, that is not a good look. Do it now or else people will think you are covering your own neck!”

Another commented: “Set the record straight and let us all know.”
