This announcement comes just as the indie pop-rock band kicked off the North American leg of their Still … At Their Very Best tour.

As well as an upcoming show in San Jose and San Diego, The 1975 will head to Los Angeles in October and then on to the UK and Europe next year.

After the tour started in November 2022, Matt found himself at the center of numerous controversies and romance rumours.

This includes his shortlived ‘relationship’ with singer Taylor Swift, which came to an end in June.

According to witnesses via Page Six, the pair were caught ‘kissing’ and ‘holding hands’ during a double date with musician Jack Antonoff and his now-wife Margaret Qualley.

Matty’s mother actress and Loose Women panelist Denise Welch was also spotted supporting Taylor during her Era’s Tour, which seemingly confirmed rumours.

He was also photographed hanging out with Taylor’s father, Scott Swift during the Shake It Off singer’s show.

Despite this, their romance seemingly wasn’t meant to be after a friend close to the star confirmed Taylor was “single” again.

The split rumours began after a source confirmed to Entertainment Tonight earlier this week that: “Taylor and Matty broke up.”

“They are both extremely busy and realized they’re not really compatible with each other,” they added.

The insider also told the outlet: “Taylor’s friends want what’s best for her and aren’t shocked that their relationship fizzled out since she recently got out of a long-term relationship.”
