Les Dennis says he’s having the ‘best time’ despite age
The first episode of Strictly Come Dancing: The Results saw Les Dennis and Nikita Kanda return to the dancefloor tonight in a bid to make it through to the next round of the BBC competition.
On Saturday, Nikita and her Gorka Márquez performed their Charleston to Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) by Beyoncé, earning a total of 36 points and placing second-to-last on the leaderboard.
Meanwhile, comedian Les finished behind her with just 31 points after performing Samba to Rock The Boat by Hues Corporation with his partner Nancy Xu.
After both couples had danced together for a second time tonight, the judges delivered their verdicts, choosing to save Nikita and Gorka over Les and Nancy.
BBC viewers took to Twitter to react to the elimination, with many accepting that it was the “right result”.

Lee wrote: “I think that the right person has gone but I’ve got to say massive respect to Les Dennis for giving it a go.”
While Wando complained: “TV has officially been switched over. We don’t need to wait to the end of the Strictly result tonight. It’s a given Les is gone.”
However, other viewers believed Les bid farewell from the competition too early.
Elliot argued: “Wrong decision. Was Les Dennis the best dancer? No. Was he the most entertaining? Absolutely. Sad to lose him so early on. Deserved longer.”
While Angie fumed: “You people let Ed Balls stay for weeks and got rid of Les Dennis as soon as you could. FFS.” (sic)
Dinico tweeted: “Aw Les. He was actually so entertaining and funny to watch I thought the public would keep him in for a bit. He actually had such a sweet partnership with Nancy.”
Louise then sweetly added: “Whatever you want to say about Les on #strictly he has tried his best, had fun, entertained us and made his kids proud. I’d say that’s a win.”

When it was time for the judges to decide who would go home, Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Nikita and Gorka, explaining: “The couple I would like to save and who I think danced the best on the night and was the most improved is Nikita and Gorka.”
Meanwhile, fellow judge Motsi Mabuse also chose to save Nikita and Gorka, saying: “Both couples danced better in the dance off.
“One couple was extremely better in the dance off. I will save Nikita and Gorka.”
Anton Du Beke followed suit by choosing to save the same pair, reasoning: “I thought it was a competition of two couples on performance alone and who could really nail their performance.
“I think the couple who did the best job were Nikita and Gorka.”
With three votes in favour of Nikita and Gorka, they won the majority vote meaning that Les and Nancy would be leaving the competition regardless of Head Judge Shirley Ballas’ ruling.
Nevertheless, Shirley revealed that she also would have chosen to save Nikita and Gorka.
Strictly Come Dancing returns next Saturday at 6.20pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
