She then announced her decision in the caption as she wrote: “I’ve finally taken the plunge! Follow for health, medical and parenting chat”.

Her announcement was met with welcoming messages from fans.

One wrote: “Look forward to seeing your posts Emily”.

While another said: “Yaaaay welcome to Instagram. Looking forward to seeing posts from you” followed by a series of red heart emojis.

And a third rejoiced with: “Great news!”

She already has 209 followers on her Instagram. Meanwhile, her Facebook and Twitter pages are yet to amass followers.

Emily quit social media in 2014, and said she didn't regret her decision in her OK! magazine column in 2019.

She wrote: “I think that this is such an important thing to do because social media can be really negative and so damaging, especially for young people.

“Not only can it promote an unrealistic body image, but there is also trolling to contend with and the feeling of always having to be online and keep up.”

Emily continued: “Losing that normal social interaction with people can be harmful and it’s been reported that third of those who go on Facebook are less happy when they come off it, which just shows how much it is affecting us.

“I haven't been on social media for six years and I’ve never missed it.”

Emily also made the decision to prohibit photos of her and Peter's kids, Amelia and Theo’s faces online.

Mysterious Girl singer Peter, 47, previously said he respects his wife’s decision.

He said: “I respect Emily’s decision to keep the kids out of the limelight.

“I also think that with kids these days, I have to let go of the reins as they are different to our generation.”

While Emily added to The Sun that she made the decision based on seeing the experience of Peter’s elder children, Junior and Princess, who he shares with ex Katie Price.

She said: “You didn’t make that decision at that time, Pete, but now we have the benefit of hindsight as well to see how it has been for Junior and Princess.

“Social media wasn’t really around then.”
