Naga Munchetty, 45, has spoken as a fan tweeted, after spotting that co-star Charlie Stayt’s tie matched her ensemble while hosting BBC Breakfast. The TV host responded that they try not to wear similar colours while appearing on the programme and that it was simply a “wardrobe fail”.

One of Naga’s 228,400 followers tweeted: “Now that’s a first! Charlie’s tie matches @TVNaga01 fab colours. “

The broadcaster replied: “I must say – we usually try to NOT to match – wardrobe fail.x”

Underneath viewers of the show praised the fashion choices of the programme’s two weekend presenters.

One wrote: “Can’t work out if it’s Charlie’s socks or @TVNaga01 heels that are more appealing!”

Another replied: “I think your blouse would suit Charlie lol.”

A third commented: “Charlie is always impeccably dressed.xx.”

It comes as Naga announced her new role on Radio 5 Live

The TV host is set to appear on the radio airwaves on the mid-morning slot three days a week, Mondays to Wednesdays from 10am to 1pm, starting in January.

The slot was formerly filled by Emma Barnett, who is leaving the radio station to move to Woman’s Hour on Radio 4.

Naga will still remain with BBC Breakfast from Thursdays to Saturdays as she takes on the new role.

Emma tweeted her excitement at the news of her replacement: “Huge congrats to the brilliant @TVNaga01 – you are going to have a bloody ball with a tenacious, quick-witted and clever team and the incredible listeners of @bbc5live.”

The BBC Breakfast host responded on Twitter that she was looking forward to joining the team but had big shoes to fill.

Naga wrote: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the 5 Live team.

“I have always wanted to work more in radio and after such an enjoyable experience presenting on the station recently, I jumped at this opportunity.”

Recently Naga has been absent from her duties on BBC Breakfast as she took some time away.

Louise Minchin stepped in to host the show alongside Charlie during Naga’s well-deserved break.

Louise and her co-star Dan Walker usually present Breakfast on Mondays to Wednesdays, while Naga and Charlie fill the Thursday and Friday slots.

Naga joined the show in 2009 as a relief presenter, before becoming one of the team’s main presenters in 2014.

However, fans were confused as to why she was not on screens, as they demanded to know where she had gone on social media.

One tweeted: “What’s happened to Naga?”
