Lauren Goodger reveals her 28-year-old friend has died after contracting coronavirus in hospital

Lauren Goodger has paid tribute to her friend after saying he died from the coronavirus after catching the deadly illness in hospital.

The former TOWIE star took to social media to share a photo of a man, known as “Spud”, who is said to have passed away earlier this week.

He is said to have been 28 years old.

Lauren, 33, shared a post on Instagram read: “Rest in Peace Spud. This virus is real, and it’s spreading. PLEASE STAY AT HOME PEOPLE.”

Alongside the image, the reality star wrote: “So sad. Friend of a friend died yesterday from Islington.

“He caught the virus from hospital and didn’t make it.”

Lauren then urged fans to “keep safe and clean”.

Earlier this week, Lauren took to social media to praise the NHS after getting into an argument with an NHS worker over her decision to go to work amid the UK lockdown.

Lauren had sparked outrage for hitting out at an NHS worker after she went to work wearing a makeshift face mask.

She was pictured sporting a black protective shield over her mouth while making her way to her salon in Essex this weekend.

However, one social media user, who works for the NHS, slammed her decision to leave her house as “selfish” following government advice to stay indoors amid the deadly outbreak of the virus.

Lauren then replied to the woman: “I am working please shut up… until the government and NHS says all salons closed until then I will be working!”

The woman then stated: “Telling someone who is working for the NHS to shut up. Lovely.

“Salons are not needed right now and even if you do work, you don’t need to advertise you out and about all over Insta!”

Lauren didn’t take the words lightly, as she responded: “Go and put your hate and negativity elsewhere!

“What type of person that works for the NHS wants to write hate on a celeb’s page! Disgrace!”
