Matthew Perry's "slurred" speech during an interview for Friends: The Reunion is said to have been caused by emergency dental work, reports claim.
The 51 year old was filmed alongside his cast mates Matt Leblanc and David Schwimmer in an interview to promote the long-awaited reunion with People.
But, fans of the Chandler Bing actor were left concerned after he appeared to slur his speech during the three-question video interview.
They expressed their concern in the comments of the footage, posted on YouTube.
One wrote: "I'm already crying. I wish we could make Perry as happy as he's made all of us."
Another asked: "Was Matthew Perry ok today. He seemed to be trying really hard to speak correctly and not slur."
As a third added: "Is Matthew Perry okay?? Why does he slur his words and have a swollen tongue. I hope he's not sick."
Now, a source has told The Sun that Matthew, who sent fans wild after they discovered his dad starred in an episode of the show, had undergone emergency dental work shortly before the clip was filmed.
The insider said: "Matthew turned up to the reunion and members of his team said that he had an emergency tooth procedure that day.
"That was said to impact his wellbeing and also how he was feeling.
"He had been in pain from what we understand, which caused the slurred speech."
They added: "Obviously no one wants to film after a procedure, but it happened.
"The feeling was one of huge sympathy for Matthew especially in recent days given how people have reacted online.
"Matthew has told those around him that he is sober, and there is no need to worry."
Matthew has been very open about his struggle with addiction and had checked himself into rehab twice during his time on the sitcom.
He has since become a spokesperson for drugs charities and discussed his public health battle with People in 2013.

He said: "I had a big problem with alcohol and pills and I couldn’t stop…
"Eventually things got so bad that I couldn’t hide it, and then everybody knew."
Matthew also admitted in 2016 that he had forgotten "three years" of Friends.
He told Chris Evans on his BBC Radio 2 show at the time: "I think the answer is I don't remember three years of it, so none of those. I was a little out of it at the time. Somewhere between seasons three and six."
