Comedian Peter Kay looks unrecognisable in rare clip taken backstage after gig

Peter Kay looked almost unrecognisable as he appeared in a rare backstage clip following his recent show at London's O2 Arena.

The comedian, 48, returned to the stage last year and has since left fans shocked at his change of appearance, as he looks slimmer than ever.

And a new backstage clip posted by his pal pianist Bryan Edery left fans commenting that they thought the star looked unrecognisable.

The clip saw Peter sporting a comfy black tracksuit as he stood with his arm around his friend and told the camera that he was about to eat "two lamb bhunas."

Sharing the clip to his Instagram page, Bryan penned the caption: "I was fortunate enough to be invited by my good friends to see Peter Kay's amazing show at the O2.

"And then very lucky to meet the man himself backstage. Go and see Peter's show, it's incredible. Secondly, thank you friends, you know who you are #peterkaytour."

Fans of the comedian were quick to comment on his new look, with one commenting: "Wow, looks like a different bloke [two clapping emojis."

"Wow that’s some mega weight loss Peter lad" added another.

It comes after Peter was joined by former Britain's Got Talent star Susan Boyle at a recent show, after they first worked together 12 years ago, when they collaborated on a song for Comic Relief.

Taking to Instagram, Susan shared a snap of her reunion with Peter, which she captioned: "A reunion 12 years in the making! Susan Boyle & Peter Kay back together again after she went to see his hilariously brilliant show 'Peter Kay Live' in Glasgow.

"How has it been 12 years since their Comic Relief video came out?!"

Fans of both Susan and Peter were quick to comment on the snap, with one writing: "I was at Peter Kay last night as well Susan, and Peter is a comedy genius! What an excellent show laughed the whole way through his act. Was amazing when the whole arena started shouting your name!"

Last year, Peter kicked off his comeback tour, having not performed in over a decade, much to the excitement of his fans – with tickets selling out and new dates having to be announced.

His return to the stage came after he previously left fans concerned when he abruptly cancelled his 2018 tour due to “unforeseen family circumstances”.

Keeping a low profile in the years following this, the comedian has never shared the reason behind this cancellation.
