Carol Vorderman promises to get rid of as many Tories as possible

Carol Vorderman says she wants to get rid of Tories on Sunday Brunch

Sunday Brunch viewers were stunned by guest Carol Vorderman’s political comments on today’s show, which left hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer awkwardly scrambling to save Channel 4 from being called out for any political bias. The former Countdown star appeared on the chatshow to promote her new quiz book Perfect 10, which is based on her podcast of the same name.

However, the conversation soon turned to politics, as Carol often likes to be outspoken about her opinions on the Tory party. Presenters Tim and Silence were left grimacing nervously as she announced her vow to “get rid of as many Tories as possible” in the next election.

Speaking about the UK’s voting system, Carol explained: “We are the only country other than Belarus, which isn’t exactly known for its democracy, that uses only a first-past-the-post system. “And after the First World War, women got the vote for the first time, and after the Second World War, the welfare state was created.

“And I do get this sense, particularly from the younger generation, that they want something that’s new,” Carol continued. “They want a new system of life, they want people to be more equal, for the system to be fairer.

“So next year, I’m devoting myself to the election and getting rid of as many Tories as possible,” Carol said, drawing a mixture of laughs and gasps from the studio. Tim and Simon then hurriedly explained that Carol’s views were not representative of the show.

They also quipped that they would have to say the same thing about the Labour Party in the interest of fairness. Taking to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Sunday Brunch viewers shared their opinions on Carol’s announcement.

“So glad she didn’t get political!” Karen penned sarcastically, while another user complained: “What utter drivel she speaks.”

“She just couldn’t f***ing help herself,” Chris raged. “She’s insufferable.” (sic)
