I don’t care how persuasive the sales patter is, I am not moving to a country where they spread yeast extract on their puddings.

Phil Spencer’s sales patter was also doomed to failure as Love It Or List It (Ch4) returned. He and Kirstie Allsopp were playing tug-of-war with a family in Wiltshire.

With an hour to fill, Kirstie and Phil nattered about nothing in particular. Neither was impressed with a pair of bobble-head dolls, supposed to resemble them. ‘I don’t think the hair on yours is right,’ he reassured her.

‘I definitely don’t have that nose,’ she retorted.

Phil wondered aloud whether she ever wished to have lived in a different era, and Kirstie was horrified. Imagine the problems with dentistry that our ancestors endured, she exclaimed.

Clearly, Her Ladyship hasn’t attempted the impossible task of finding an NHS dentist recently.

The Oscar-nominated actress got emotional while chatting with Gayle King about pay disparity in the industry in a Tuesday SiriusXM interview. While sitting alongside The Color Purple director Blitz Bazawule and her co-star Danielle Brooks, the 53-year-old candidly confessed:

“I’m just tired of working so hard, being gracious at what I do getting paid a fraction of the cost. I’m tired of hearing my sisters say the same thing over and over. You get tired. I hear people go, ‘You work a lot.’ Well, I have to. The math ain’t math-ing.”

She then broke down what it’s REALLY like when you hear about actors getting paid million of dollars for films:

 “When you start working a lot, you know, you have a team. Big bills come with what we do. We don’t do this alone. The fact that we’re up here, it’s a whole team behind us. They have to get paid. So when you hear someone saying, ‘Oh, such and such made $10 million,’ no, that didn’t make it to their account.”

The Empire alum added continued:

“Know that off the top, Uncle Sam is getting 50 percent. Okay? So do the math. Now we have $5 million. Your team is getting 30 percent off of what you grossed — not after what Uncle Sam took. Now do the math.”

In her proposed scenario, all the costs would leave just $2 million for the actor — only 20 percent of that total $10 million deal. Wow.

Taraji emotionally added:

“I’m only human and it seems every time I do something and break another glass ceiling, when it’s time to renegotiate, I’m at the bottom again like I never did what I just did and I’m tired. I’m tired. I’m tired. It wears on you. You know, ‘cause what does that mean? What is that telling me?”

Taking a moment to look at Danielle, a younger actress, she passionately added:

“If I can’t fight for them coming up behind me then what the f**k am I doing?”

The Hidden Figures star then reflected on the frustration of being told Black stories “don’t translate overseas.” She said through tears:

“I’m tired of hearing that my entire career. 20 plus years in the game and I hear the same thing and I see what you do for another production, but when it’s time to go to bat for us don’t have any money. They play in your face. And I’m just supposed to smile and grin and bear it and just keep, like — enough is enough! That’s why I have other because this industry, if you let it, it will steal your soul. I refuse to let that happen.”

What a powerful breakdown of her experience in the industry. She drew applause from the entire room — which goes to show how much her words truly resonated — but we’re just sad it’s at this point… And HAS been.

Blitz tagged onto Taraji’s sentiment, explaining how difficult it is for Black actors — specifically Black woman — to make a name in Hollywood… And that he had to fight for the two ladies sitting alongside him, as well as Fantasia Barrino, to be in The Color Purple:

“Each one of you, every single one of you, had to audition for this role — roles that were second nature to you. Roles that no one should even question.”

The trek will see Social Distortion performing their classic debut album Mommy’s Little Monster in its entirety to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

The trek kicks off on April 9th in Bakersfield, California, and runs through May 18th in Chicago, with support from The Lovebombs. Tickets are on sale now.

Social Distortion frontman Mike Ness revealed in June that he was battling tonsil cancer, forcing the band to cancel a planned Summer 2023 tour.

Ness stated, “It gives me great pleasure to announce that in April we will be going on a nationwide co-headlining tour with our friends in Bad Religion. Yes, we are back in action and can’t wait for this tour! We did this with them in Australia in 2022 and the shows were amazing!”

“We have also decided in celebration of the 40-year anniversary and re-release of Mommy’s Little Monster that we will be playing the album in its entirety,” he continued. “This should be a very special tour and we are all looking forward to it.”

It’s really interesting when someone passes away in our industry, because they’re still alive in so many forms,” she told Glamour UK.

Jeannie also says she’s been more than accommodating when it comes to Jeezy asking for time with their daughter … giving him all the dates he’s asked for, and giving him an extended period of time with her over the Christmas holiday.

Jeannie says she 100% wants Jeezy to be involved in their daughter’s life — but says safety is her #1 concern … and in these docs, she claims it’s completely reasonable for safety to be on her mind.

Jeannie’s attorneys write … “It is essential to clarify that Ms. Jenkins’ insistence on reasonable safety measures being put in place, such as safely securing and locking away all firearms that have been unsecured in the past, as well as having familiarity and properly trained caregivers is absolutely not gatekeeping, but rather a responsible effort to prioritize their daughter’s well-being.”

Like we said … Jeannie’s calling BS on that, and instead of a hearing on temporary custody — she’s asking the judge here to just send them to mediation to work this out themselves, noting she feels like they’re strong candidates for that option.

During the new episode of The Osbournes Podcast out on Tuesday, Kelly Osbourne told her family she wants “plastic surgery” for “Christmas.” Specifically the 39-year-old host motioned to her neck and face, which caused Ozzy Osbourne to proclaim:

“Oh f**k. Kelly, don’t. Stop.”

LMFAO!

Kelly hit back at the hesitation, adding:

“Well, I just think it’s my time!”

When Sharon argued it was “too early” for her to start this, her brother Jack was on her side, pointing out the 71-year-old was around Kelly’s age when she began getting work done. Still, the momma bear didn’t seem pleased with the idea — and we get why! She only just quit going under the knife herself after a botched facelift in 2021.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, she revealed her reaction after emerging from a painful five-and-a-half-hour procedure, recalling:

“You’ve got to be f**king joking. One eye was different to the other. I looked like a f**king Cyclops. I’m, like, ‘All I need is a hunchback.’”

Oof! She eventually fixed the problem and swore off plastic surgery for good — which is a big deal for her! Back in September, Jack joked the former The Talk star usually gets a regular “tune-up” like a car, teasing:

“I thought you had, like, a two- or three-year, like, tune-up. It’s like a car. Every 5,000 miles, Mom goes in for a tune-up.”

Hah! Of course Kelly wants to get work done if that’s what the person raising her was constantly doing! Plus, she’s admitted to getting Botox in her face before, so she’s dabbled in the arena. Interestingly, in the fall the matriarch responded to her son, saying:

“That’s right. Everybody needs it.”

Everybody — but her daughter. For now at least!

Back on this week’s podcast, Jack and Sharon both tried to encourage Kelly against doing anything, insisting it wasn’t necessary to get work done — something she agreed with, sorta. She replied:

“Yes. Look, I do not want one of those necks in which you can flick. That will never happen.”

Kate Garraway revealed husband Derek Draper’s health had ‘improved’ for the first time in three years, just months before he suffered a heart attack which has left him ‘fighting for his life’.

The Good Morning Britain star, 56, has cancelled all of her work commitments and is holding a bedside vigil as the lobbyist fights for his life.

Prior to this, Kate also revealed she was expecting Derek, 56, to spend the festive period at home.

In March, Kate shared a health update on the Walt Disney Travel Company’s podcast, Journey to the Magic.

She told host Giovanna Fletcher of her current family situation with Derek and admitted: ‘They’re OK, they’re good. It is challenging, he’s still very, very damaged.

‘But it’s a challenging one – he spent most of last year in the hospital as well for various different things.’

Derek, 56, has been plagued with health woes after contracting Covid in 2020 and is now said to be fighting for his life after being taken dangerously ill last Monday.

GMB presenter Kate, 56, is said to be holding a 24/7 vigil by his bedside and has cancelled all work commitments while his family ‘pray for a miracle’. It is expected she will spend Christmas at her husband’s bedside in hospital .

Derek has been in and out of hospital after he fell seriously ill with coronavirus at the very start of the pandemic in March 2020, and was left with lasting damage to his organs.

Doctors put him in a medically induced coma and he became the longest-suffering coronavirus patient in the UK after spending 13 months in hospital, apart from Kate and their two children – Darcey, 16 and Billy, 13.

However, he has readmitted several times with numerous health issues, including kidney failure, brain inflammation and liver damage.

Following the heartbreaking turn of events it has been reported that Derek was ‘in great spirits’ and looking forward to Christmas with his family.

A source told The Sun : ‘It was sudden and a shock as he had been doing so well and was in great spirits, looking forward to Christmas at home with the family.

‘This setback has been a huge blow for his family and all the people caring for him.

‘Kate has been utterly incredible — by his side while being an amazing mum to Darcey and Billy, and trying to manage their expectations of a family Christmas.’

Kate recently revealed her family are ‘adjusting to a new normal’ as Derek battles to get better and shared a ‘promising’ update on Derek’s health, hoping it could lead to an improvement.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Kate shared: ‘Derek’s in hospital having some treatment. It’s not an emergency thing, it’s not a dramatic rush back into intensive care, thank goodness. It’s something that started last year that we hope will lead to improvement.

‘I’ve managed to get it in before the end of the year. It’s something we were trying to do in the summer, but there are referrals and time and all of those things.

‘Every day we wait and see. There isn’t a dramatic improvement but touch wood things haven’t gone backwards either. So we’re just adjusting to a new normal.’

While Kate tries to stay as positive as she can, she also feels like Derek is never ‘safe’.

Earlier this year, Kate revealed she was planning to take Derek to Mexico for a second bout of experimental treatment in a desperate bid to save him from the devastating effects of Covid.

Following a previously ‘gruelling’ trip to Mexico at the beginning of 2022, Kate shared her hopes at flying Derek back for an additional round of treatment.

Kate told The Sun : ‘The effort required to get him there is extraordinary, and obviously we are relying on the grace of these specialists to help him.

‘I can’t thank all those involved in getting him to Mexico enough because without them he wouldn’t have the chance of this potentially life-changing treatment.’

She added: ‘The plan is to go back for another round of treatment and continue the trial in a way that is financially viable.’

Although Kate insisted that they’d had ‘wonderful treatment’ from the NHS, which were essential in keeping her husband alive, the foreign trips offer ‘potentially life saving treatment’.

As well as the trip, the Smooth Radio presenter has had to spend ‘tens of thousands of pounds’ adapting the family home in London for Derek, which included the installation of ramps, a downstairs wet room and a makeshift downstairs bedroom.

Due to the severity of his illness and length of time spent in hospital he remains unable to walk and has developed debilitating symptoms.

In summer last year Derek developed sepsis and was again rushed to hospital, where the severe condition nearly killed him.

She shared the ‘heartbreak’ she feels over Derek’s health while on new podcast Emotionally Speaking with host Peter Leonard.

She explained: ‘He is living in the world of the unknown, when he wakes u pin the morning it is heartbreaking because it feels as though you are watching someone who may have been inhabiting his old life in his dreams and then he wakes up and you see the cloud descend of the battle he has ahead.

‘But if you look back, there is some progress, he has more words now and his voice is stronger. You occasionally get a little bit of a Chorley accent in there so it feels like he is more present, but he still can’t sit up without assistant and his life isn’t his own.

‘His brain had always been his allay and friend, but now it is his enemy. I think he’s had a big emotional struggle.

Kate added: ‘One of the challenges with Derek is we’ve never felt like he is safe, so every infection and rush back to hospital might be the moment he is taken from us. We are still hopeful he will improve but we have no clear timeline on this.

It comes after Kate appeared on Heart Breakfast in September alongside Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston where she spoke about her husband’s health problems and how it impacts the family.

Jamie asked: ‘How are the kids feeling, that adjustment must be tricky especially at their age?’

Kate replied: ‘Well, yeah I think it’s been quite interesting. I think some of what I’ve been writing about in the book, is the fact that you have adrenaline, don’t you, when something dramatic happens.

‘I talk about what I think is adrenaline, it’s a bit of a frenemy. One level it’s fantastic, it gets you through the crisis, and then as time goes on, it’s not great for your own health.

‘Derek himself has been living on a version of adrenaline as well. And the kids have too in their own way, so I think the last year and a half really, has been coming to terms with the fact that we’re not in a ‘one week’ ‘two week’ ‘three month’ drama.

Kate Garraway’s husband Derek Draper ‘isn’t in a good way’ after suffering a heart attack, the presenter’s co-star has revealed.

The Good Morning Britain star has cancelled all of her work commitments and is holding a bedside vigil as the lobbyist fights for his life.

After news of Derek’s latest health battle broke, Kate has been flooded with messages of support from her friends and co-stars, including her Smooth FM colleague Jenni Falconer.

Speaking on her breakfast show on Tuesday, Jenni told listeners ‘it doesn’t look like he’s in a good way.’

She added: ‘On behalf of everyone here at Smooth we’re sending lots of love and Smooth best wishes to our very own Kate Garraway.

Derek, 56, has been plagued with health woes after contracting Covid in 2020 and is now said to be fighting for his life after being taken dangerously ill last Monday.

GMB presenter Kate, 56, is said to be holding a 24/7 vigil by his bedside and has cancelled all work commitments while his family ‘pray for a miracle’. It is expected she will spend Christmas at her husband’s bedside in hospital. 

Derek has been in and out of hospital after he fell seriously ill with coronavirus at the very start of the pandemic in March 2020, and was left with lasting damage to his organs.

Doctors put him in a medically induced coma and he became the longest-suffering coronavirus patient in the UK after spending 13 months in hospital, apart from Kate and their two children – Darcey, 16 and Billy, 13.

However, he has readmitted several times with numerous health issues, including kidney failure, brain inflammation and liver damage.

Following the heartbreaking turn of events it has been reported that Derek was ‘in great spirits’ and looking forward to Christmas with his family.

The Good Morning Britain presenter was given a sweet message of support from her Smooth FM colleague Jenni Falconer

A source told The Sun: ‘It was sudden and a shock as he had been doing so well and was in great spirits, looking forward to Christmas at home with the family.

‘This setback has been a huge blow for his family and all the people caring for him.

‘Kate has been utterly incredible — by his side while being an amazing mum to Darcey and Billy, and trying to manage their expectations of a family Christmas.’

Kate recently revealed her family are ‘adjusting to a new normal’ as Derek battles to get better and shared a ‘promising’ update on Derek’s health, hoping it could lead to an improvement.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Kate shared: ‘Derek’s in hospital having some treatment. It’s not an emergency thing, it’s not a dramatic rush back into intensive care, thank goodness. It’s something that started last year that we hope will lead to improvement.

‘I’ve managed to get it in before the end of the year. It’s something we were trying to do in the summer, but there are referrals and time and all of those things. 

‘Every day we wait and see. There isn’t a dramatic improvement but touch wood things haven’t gone backwards either. So we’re just adjusting to a new normal.’ 

While Kate tries to stay as positive as she can, she also feels like Derek is never ‘safe’.

Earlier this year, Kate revealed she was planning to take Derek to Mexico for a second bout of experimental treatment in a desperate bid to save him from the devastating effects of Covid.

Following a previously ‘gruelling’ trip to Mexico at the beginning of 2022, Kate shared her hopes at flying Derek back for an additional round of treatment. 

Kate told The Sun: ‘The effort required to get him there is extraordinary, and obviously we are relying on the grace of these specialists to help him.

‘I can’t thank all those involved in getting him to Mexico enough because without them he wouldn’t have the chance of this potentially life-changing treatment.’

She added: ‘The plan is to go back for another round of treatment and continue the trial in a way that is financially viable.’

Although Kate insisted that they’d had ‘wonderful treatment’ from the NHS, which were essential in keeping her husband alive, the foreign trips offer ‘potentially life saving treatment’.

As well as the trip, the Smooth Radio presenter has had to spend ‘tens of thousands of pounds’ adapting the family home in London for Derek, which included the installation of ramps, a downstairs wet room and a makeshift downstairs bedroom. 

Due to the severity of his illness and length of time spent in hospital he remains unable to walk and has developed debilitating symptoms. 

In summer last year Derek developed sepsis and was again rushed to hospital, where the severe condition nearly killed him. 

She shared the ‘heartbreak’ she feels over Derek’s health while on new podcast Emotionally Speaking with host Peter Leonard.

She explained: ‘He is living in the world of the unknown, when he wakes u pin the morning it is heartbreaking because it feels as though you are watching someone who may have been inhabiting his old life in his dreams and then he wakes up and you see the cloud descend of the battle he has ahead.

‘But if you look back, there is some progress, he has more words now and his voice is stronger. You occasionally get a little bit of a Chorley accent in there so it feels like he is more present, but he still can’t sit up without assistant and his life isn’t his own.

‘His brain had always been his allay and friend, but now it is his enemy. I think he’s had a big emotional struggle.

Kate added: ‘One of the challenges with Derek is we’ve never felt like he is safe, so every infection and rush back to hospital might be the moment he is taken from us. We are still hopeful he will improve but we have no clear timeline on this. 

It comes after Kate appeared on Heart Breakfast in September alongside Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston where she spoke about her husband’s health problems and how it impacts the family.
